WRASA "Goals for Good" Fundraiser

In a heartwarming display of community spirit and strategic prowess, the Canadian Chess Society recently made its debut in the world of fundraising. Armed with chess sets and a passion for giving back, the society set up an unforgettable booth at the White Rock Amateur Swimming Association water polo fundraiser event to support the Peace Arch Hospital. What started as an innovative idea blossomed into a successful event, together with WRASA we raised over $900 and leaving a lasting impact on both chess enthusiasts and the local community.

As the event unfolded, it quickly became evident that chess has a unique ability to bridge generational gaps and bring people together. Players young and old, novices and experts, gathered around the booth, drawn by the allure of the intricate game. Laughter, camaraderie, and intellectual camaraderie filled the air as moves were made and strategies unfurled.

Canadian Chess Society decided to channel its competitive energy into a noble cause. The idea was simple yet captivating – set up chess boards at a booth and invite players of all ages and skill levels to engage in friendly games. With a designated area at a local fundraiser event, the society had the perfect platform to showcase their beloved game while contributing to a charitable endeavor.

Many young swimmers from WRASA love to challenge our volunteers in a exciting game of chess.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to WRASA for granting us the chance to display our skills and contribute to raising donations for the Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary Society.

Our sincere thanks go out to the dedicated volunteers who generously stepped forward to support and kick-start this remarkable event!
